Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 Tablespoons melted butter
- 1 large egg (room temperature)
- ¼ cup honey
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ teaspoon Active Dry Yeast
Instructions
Scald milk. Remove from heat when it begins to steam and small bubbles form. Let it reduce to lukewarm temperature, between 80 and 90 degrees.
Combine milk and honey and mix well before adding yeast. Mix until well combined, then allow it to sit for 5 minutes.
You can do the following by hand or with a stand mixer with a dough hook.
In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 TB butter, the milk/yeast mixture, egg, and two cups of flour. Mix slowly until smooth. Gradually add the remaining flour and mix until dough has formed.
Add salt and mix/knead for an additional 8 minutes, then place dough on a floured surface and knead for an additional 2 minutes.
Place dough into a large greased bowl, and cover. Let the dough rise for an hour.
Punch down the dough and roll until 1/2 inch thick. Fold in half, then cut into squares of equal size.
Place on greased cookie sheets or in a metal pan, and let rise for 45 minutes. They should at least double in size.
Bake rolls at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Brush tops with butter.
